Civil Justice Reform Commencement Reception On Friday 3 April, LexisNexis Hong Kong hosted a cocktail reception at the Conrad Hotel to mark the commencement of Civil Justice Reform. Senior members of the judiciary and the legal profession were present. The event included addresses by The Honourable Mr Justice Barma of the High Court, Mr William S Clarke, Mr PY Lo and Mr Eric TM Cheung. The event also served to launch two publications which provide guidance to practitioners in navigating the new litigation landscape, namely Hong King Civil Court Practice (updated in looseleaf format to incorporate the amended rules and commentary) and A Guide to Civil Procedure in Hong Kong (3rd Edition). ![]() The Honourable Mr Justice Barma delivering the keynote address.

April 2009 - Commercial Contracts and Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference On April 22nd & 23rd, LexisNexis® recently presented our signature conference, Commercial Contracts and Alternative Dispute Resolution (CCADR). The Honourable Sir Laurence Street AC KCMG QC, from Australia, chaired this event. Other prominent speakers were Jasmine Karimi, (HKCCA) Judith Sihombing and Dr. Wang Wen Ying (CIETAC). Key issues that were addressed included successful negotiation, legal issues arising from contractual clauses, cross border agreements and intellectual property (IP). The conference also addressed Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) updates in China as well as understanding the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards between the Mainland and the Hong Kong SAR and the New York Convention. Supported by Winston & Strawn LLP and Merrill Legal Solutions, the event proved to be great networking and idea sharing platform for its business partners and practitioners. |
